Buying a POS in the Philippines

Most of what you will read while choosing a POS was written by people selling one. These guides are written to be useful even if you do not buy from us — they explain what the claims mean, how to check them, and what to ask. Run every one of them against WSI POS as well.

The 12-point due diligence checklist

Take this to every demo. A vendor who cannot answer these plainly is telling you something, and a vendor who gets defensive about item 2 or item 7 is telling you more.

  • Ask for the total cost of the term you are considering, in writing, with VAT stated either way.
  • Ask what happens to your sales data if you stop paying — and get the answer in writing.
  • Disconnect the internet mid-order and finish the sale. Watch the connection, not the demo.
  • Restart the application while still offline and confirm your offline sales survived.
  • Reconnect and check that every offline sale appears exactly once.
  • Print an X-reading or Z-reading while disconnected.
  • Ask whether the kitchen display depends on the internet or your local network.
  • Ask for the vendor's BIR accreditation number and its validity date, and what model it covers.
  • Ask who secures your Permit to Use, by when, and what documents fall on you.
  • Ask whether the bundled hardware will work with different software later.
  • Ask for a written exit path: how you export your records if you leave.
  • Check whether the price includes implementation, staff training and post-go-live support.
